(Argusianus argus)
The peafowl or peacock is a bird which belongs to the Galliforme order and the Phasianidae family. Male peacocks have a long tail, known as fan, which can be composed of approximately 150 feathers. At the end of each feather there is an "eye". These not only are there to impress the female, but mainly to scare their predators, as they have the appearance of a mammalian eye. Female peacocks (or peahens) have a rather simple appearance, they have no fan. The bright colors of the feathers are generated due to the refraction of light which is produced by chambers of air between the feathers.
Peacocks in Mythology: Peacocks appeared in Babylon as the birds of kings. At that time, there was a throne in the form of a peacock. Later, the Mongols of Delhi built a throne covered with many precious stones, which was stolen in 1739 by Nadir, Shah of Persia. In the Classical Greece, it was awarded a high rank. It was appointed as the animal of Hera, Zeus' wife. The Romans linked it to the wife of Jupiter, Juno. It has been considered a symbol of the wives of the Roman emperors since that time and it adorned coins, frescoes and mosaics. In India, the peacock is considered the animal mounted by Lakshmi. In Japan, it was related to Kwan-yin, the goddess of mercy, who sailed around the world with its feathers. In China, it represented the Ming Dynasty. Its fan symbolizes the sky and the eyes represent the stars. In India, it symbolizes the Tree of Life.
The Peacock in the interpretation of dreams: If this animal appears in our dreams, it wants to show us the beauty of our spirit. It brings inner happiness as it is a very positive symbol.
The Peacock Essence helps those people who do not accept themselves as they are. It gives them inner joy and respect toward themselves, promoting empathy toward honesty and dignity.
On the body level: People who do not consider themselves pretty, frequently, suffer from solitude and live into their shells. They often have a "Cinderella existence" and the essence can help them have a normal life. The current ideals of beauty, from the world of fashion, show quasi starving models, which is a harmful influence, mainly for young people, who are in puberty and in a stage of life in which they are trying to discover their true selves. Teens often feel that do not have the ideal body shape, they believe that they are fat and if this is associated with emotional problems, they can develop eating disorders, which may even be life-threatening.
On the emotional level: The peacock may increase our self-esteem, our own sense of worth and can provide us with internal stability and firmness, giving us great charisma. We learn that true beauty comes from within and that as a result of a higher self-esteem; we are able to be ourselves and take pride in it. Eventually, we learn to pay attention to our clothes and our appearance and to love and care for our body, to practice some sport, to move and to pay attention to our food, since it is worth to ourselves.
On the spiritual level: The peacock provides dignity and charisma. It shows us the clothing of our soul and how we can reflect our true inner beauty. We learn to find paradise on Earth and we can "dance" our life. We learn to be grateful to God for our bodies and our health, to love and to keep us healthy and to consciously take care of ourselves.
