Ruby

Ruby is an aluminum monoxide and its name is linked to its color (in Latin Rubeus, means "red"). The iridescent cat´s eye or the six beams star effects are usually the result of inlaid rutile. The polishing gives the ruby a brightness that is similar to that of a diamond. The Greeks considered it as "the mother of the gems" because of its beauty and peculiarity. St. Hildegard recommended ruby to treat infections, chills, weakness, headaches and sensitivity to weather changes.
