Valerian - Baldrian

(Valeriana officinalis)

Valerian is native plant of Europe and western Asia. It grows on meadows and areas near water and in places located 2,000 m above sea level. This herbaceous plant has a simple fluted stem, its pinnatisect leaves randomly arranged and it can reach 30 to 170 centimetres high. Their umbelliferous pink or white flowers located in the end of the stems bloom during the spring. Valerian is known for its important content of healing substances and is given to treat various discomforts in the field of herbal medicine.
