(Cucurbita pepo)
The species Cucurbita pepo is one of the oldest known forms of pumpkin and its origins are found in Central America. The courgette is an annual plant grown for its fruit and seeds, although its yellow flowers are edible. The courgette can be used for multiple purposes. When it is still green it is used as vegetable; once it is ripe it used as oily plant or, due to its colours combination, as a decorative element.
